But this one was one of the best things he sent me. I thought it was fun and at the time was a good pattern interrupt for me as I was once again getting into a rut!
I’d like to share that with you here just so you get a break too
but be paitient, it may take a little while to load.
Happy as You Want to Be
I don’t know anyone who hasn’t heard the hit single ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ by Bobby McFerrin. The song has a very catchy way of conveying its message of being happy to everyone. Bobby Mcferiin’s simple message made a lot of people cheerful by telling them not to worry.
Living a happy, flexible and positive life is marvellous and is also good for your health. Being happy actually protects you from stress and I am sure you know that stress is linked to top causes of deadly diseases such as heart disease, cancer and stroke.
As Confucius said: “They must often change, who would be constant in happiness or wisdom”. We have the power to make the necessary changes in our lives if we want to.
Change is also inevitable so even if we find ourselves in an unbearable situation we can always find comfort in the knowledge that it would change.
Having friends and healthy relationships are also essential to happiness. People are different – accept people for who and what they are. Avoid conflicts, incessant arguments and let go of all kinds of acrimony. If arguments seem unavoidable still try and make an effort to understand the situation and you might just get along.
Happiness makes you feel wonderful and it can make you feel healthy.
To be happy is relatively easy. All you need to do is decide to be a happy person! It is true that people can choose how happy and how stressed, relaxed or troubled they are. They can choose their outlook to be dreary or cheerful. The choice is simple. Choose to be happy.
There are several ways by which you can do this.
Change your attitude.
Being grateful for simple things in life is having a positive attitude, which in turn helps you be happy. Be thankful about the things you have and the things that are done for you, which you normally take for granted.
Be thankful
Thank the cab driver for bringing you home safely, thank the cleaner who cleans your street, thank the milkman for bringing your milk to the door, thank the newsboy who delivers your newspaper every day and thank the miracle of nature for being alive.
Manage your time.
Time is precious and too important to waste. Learn to manage your time wisely by having a simple scheduling system, setting goals, planning and creating lists of things to do and prioritising.
These basic skills can then be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.
Laugh a lot
Laugh and laugh loud everyday. Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. As they say -’Laughter is the best medicine’.
Express your feelings
Convey your affections and passions to people around you. They will most likely return your actions. Try not to restrain your anger or frustrations; this is bad for your health. Find ways of expressing these in a way that will not be hurtful to yourself or other people.
Work
Working hard brings remarkable personal fulfilment. It gives a feeling of being competent in finishing our tasks. It is a necessary requirement for all of us to be active; it gives us a sense of value.
Learn
Learning is a joyful exercise. Try to learn something new everyday. Learning also makes us expand and broaden our horizons and could also give us more opportunities in the future.
Exercise
Run, jog, walk and do other things that your body was made for to feel alive.
And always remember the quote from Abraham Lincoln, he says: “Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.“
